A post on Facebook claiming two men responsible for a mass shooting are in our area has been making the rounds lately.
The post claims the men are illegal immigrants and conducted a mass shooting resulting in the death of 14 people.
It goes on to say they are on the run and are in Manitowoc.
We reached out to Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig to check the validity of these claims, and he said the post is not accurate.
While the men pictured, 52-year-old Julio Alvarado-Dubon and 38-year-old Rolman A. Balacarcel are not U.S. citizens, they did not conduct a mass shooting.
They were arrested before they could conduct a planned mass shooting on July 4th.
Additionally, the men were arrested in Richmond Virginia, and were never in or around Manitowoc.
The men were caught after a citizen overheard them having a conversation about shooting up a 4th of July celebration in Richmond.
