Milwaukee Alderwoman Chantia Lewis has been removed from office after pleading guilty to a felony charge.
The 41-year-old Lewis was first elected in 2016 and re-elected two years ago.
She was removed Monday after her guilty plea to one felony count of unlawful misconduct in public office and a plea of no contest to a felony count of unlawful disbursement of campaign funds.
Prosecutors say Lewis deposited campaign contributions into personal bank accounts, used campaign funds to pay for personal expenses, and sought reimbursement from the city for travel expenses that were actually personal.
