The Two Rivers School Board has voted unanimously to rename the high school football field Jerry Bonino Field.
The legendary coach of the Raiders will be honored during halftime of the season and home opener on Friday, August 19th.
Coach Bonino taught Physical Education at Washington High School where he coached Raider athletes for 27 years.
While he celebrated the Raiders’ three consecutive WIAA State Football championships in 1980, 1981, and 1982, his role as a teacher was more important.
He said, “I just wanted to make a difference in young peoples’ lives.”
Jerry Bonino chalked up 127 wins and 58 losses while leading Two Rivers to ‘eight’ Eastern Wisconsin Conference titles and was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1998.
Former players, students, and Raider fans are encouraged to come celebrate with Coach Bonino on August 19th at Two Rivers High School, 4519 Lincoln Avenue.
A reception begins at 5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria with the renaming ceremony set for halftime of the Raiders-Random Lake football game.
