Tragedy was averted in Appleton after a house caught fire Saturday evening.
The Appleton Fire Department reports that they were called to a home in the 1100 block of East Mitchell Avenue at around 7:15 p.m. on a report of a structure fire.
They arrived to find smoke emitting from the roof of a single-story wood frame home.
The firefighters jumped into action and were able to quell the flames within about 10 minutes, keeping the damage to a minimum.
No injuries were reported, and the damage to the home was estimated to be around $5,000.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
