People report seeing the smoke from a fire at the City of Janesville Landfill for miles around Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities say they aren’t sure what started the fire on the northwest corner of the property.
The Janesville Fire Department sent multiple units to the landfill.
Dispatchers say the first 911 call about the fire was received just before 4:30 p.m.
The caller described it as a brush fire.
No injuries have been reported.
Crews from several fire departments were called to the scene.
