United Way Manitowoc County is seeking volunteers to assist in conducting the Point-in-Time Homelessness Count.
They need helpers for four total shifts split between July 27th and 28th.
The two shifts each day run from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., and 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is an overnight street and known location count of people experiencing homelessness.
PIT Counts, conducted twice annually, create a snapshot of what homelessness looks like in a neighborhood, city or state.
Results help establish future homelessness reduction programs, funding, and other supports. Teams of volunteers are assigned to areas.
Teams tour their area looking for anyone unsheltered, conduct a brief survey and provide referrals to assistance.
Volunteers will also have the chance to provide kits with personal hygiene items and food/beverage gift cards.
