Governor Tony Evers announced yesterday that $1.4 million in grants are being given to projects along the coastlines of the Great Lakes to help spur economic growth.
Manitowoc County and the Lincoln Park Zoological Society each applied for a grant and were approved.
The County will be getting $19,440 to help update its open space plan.
The Zoological Society meanwhile will be getting $25,000 to develop a design plan and construction documents to rehabilitate and restore currently unused exhibit space at the Manitowoc Lincoln Park Zoo into an aviary to house coastal and wetland birds.
The Village of Cleveland is also slated to get over $46,000 to conduct a feasibility study on marine conditions at Hika Bay.
A total of twelve projects in Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Oconto, and Sheboygan Counties received a portion of the funding, which is supplied by the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program.
