NASCAR driver Noah Gragson has been fined $35,000 and docked 30 points in the standings for deliberately causing a crash Wednesday at Road American during the Xfinity Series race.
Gragson slammed into Sage Karam while racing on the road course at Elkhart Lake.
That move triggered a multi-car crash. The 23-year-old driver was strongly criticized by his team owner, Dale Earnhardt Junior.
Earnhardt says he was surprised when NASCAR waited a few days before announcing the penalties.
