World Para Ice Hockey has announced that the first-ever Women’s World Challenge Hockey tournament will be held in Green Bay.
Teams from Canada, Great Brittan, and the USA, as well as a world team, will converge on the Cornerstone Community Center in Green Bay for a round-robin tournament and medal round from August 26th through the 28th.
Cornerstone has held several major tournaments in the past, including the U.S. National Curling Championships.
This event is one of the first on the road toward getting Para Ice Hockey to be recognized as a paralympic event.
Players use custom sleds and miniature hockey sticks to play the sport, which as you can see below, several NHL players have noted is more difficult than the traditional sport.
