Susan M. Dick, age 92, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Monday, July 4, 2022.
Susan was born on November 20, 1929 in Mishicot to the late Louis and Martha Sehloff Kappelmann. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1947. Susan later completed her education by obtaining her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Silver Lake College in 1974 and then received certification from Martin Luther College. On September 15, 1954, Susan married Oscar George Dick at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1988. Susan had been employed at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran School as a first-grade teacher for 17 years until 1994. She then had worked as a library aid at Manitowoc Lutheran High School. Susan enjoyed volunteering as a docent at Rahr West Museum. She was an active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include Susan’s six children, Rev. Robert (Maria) Dick, Waukesha, WI; Anne (Edward) Schultz, Austin, TX; Dr. Patricia (Stan) Cornell, Lebanon, IL; Oscar “Tony” (Sally) Dick, Manitowoc, WI; Joann (Ric) Benzinger, Travelers Rest, SC; and Stacia (Mark) Schuster, Sturgeon Bay, WI; two step-children, Darleen Young, Mason, OH; and Roger (Peggy) Dick, Leesburg, FL; step daughter-in-law, Kelly Dick, Leesburg, FL;10 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; numerous step great grandchildren; sister, Marie Janke, West Bend, WI; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Martha Kappelmann; husband, Oscar George Dick; a brother who died in action during the Korean War in 1952, U.S. Marine Master Sergeant Robert Kappelmann; sister, Donna Zima; step-son, Jerome Dick; and brother-in-law, Rev. Martin Janke.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 916 Pine Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Matt Zimpelmann will officiate with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon will then be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
