City and county leaders are calling for action in the fatal shooting of a Milwaukee transgender woman.
Alderwoman JaCasta Zamarripa is among the officials saying they are outraged by the killing of 28-year-old Brazil Johnson just over two weeks ago.
Some believe Johnson’s death was fueled by hate during Pride Month. Zamarripa says that somebody knows something about the crime.
For now, the police have very little to go on.
They’ve made no arrests and are still searching for evidence.
The victim’s mother says she believes it was a hate crime.
She bases that on information that her daughter was “shot multiple times from close range.”
