Finally, after losing six games in a row, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have gotten a tick in the win column.
The Rattlers beat the Quad Cities River Bandits 4-2 in front of a home crowd.
The four runs were knocked in by Joe Grey and Zavier Warren in the bottom of the 8th inning. Those RBIs came on each batter’s only hit of the game. In fact, the only Rattler batter to tally multiple hits was Wes Clarke, who went 2 for 3.
On the mound, it was a defensive battle through the first five innings, as Zach Mort allowed only 3 hits through 5 innings, as did Rylan Kaufman for the Bandits. Then, in the 6th inning, Robbie Baker came on for Wisconsin and gave up two runs. Justin King earned the win for his one inning of work in the 8th, and Cam Robison go the save by striking out two.
Tonight will be an intriguing night at Fox Cities Stadium. Not only is it game three of this series, and free Wizardry t-shirts will be given away, but also, starting for the Rattlers will be none other than Brandon Woodruff. The Brewers’ star is on a rehab assignment and is getting his first in-game action since May 27th when he left a matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals due to an ankle strain.
First pitch tonight is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
