Given everything that is going on in the world today, maybe we all just need to take a step back and laugh.
A Manitowoc man is hoping to do just that with a show he is hosting tomorrow (June 24th) at Déjà vu.
Jay Meeks told us he has been hosting comedy shows and open mic nights in Appleton and Green Bay to help get people back to being happy.
“Comedy is really like a medicine to the soul,” Meeks explained. “Just getting out of the house, laughing, having a good time, getting away from your trouble or anything you are going through. Release some of that stress.”
The show will consist of five comedians Jay has worked with in Green Bay, but if this show goes well, Jay said he plans on hosting open mic nights to find more hidden comedic talent.
“I think that people will like it because people love it out there in Green Bay, they love it out there in Appleton,” Meeks said. “Manitowoc is such a supportive town, why not bring it here?”
There will be a $10 entrance fee at the door, with money collected going directly to the comics.
Jay also said if this show goes well, he may look for bigger venues such as The Wharf, or even the Capitol Civic Center.
Deja Vue is located at 214 North 8th Street, and the show will begin at 6:00 p.m.
