A Wausau woman is charged with neglect, causing her grandmother’s death last January.
35-year-old Kandise Sheahen is free on bond.
She had been the victim’s health care provider and had her power of attorney.
Investigators say emergency medical services had been called to the home five times before the elderly woman died.
During one call the victim – who was diabetic – was suspected to have low blood sugar.
Sheahen refused to let the EMS workers take vital signs.
An autopsy revealed the older woman died of ketoacidosis.
Sheahen may have posted on Facebook she had taken her grandmother off medications like insulin, blood pressure meds, and pain medications before she died – although officials haven’t confirmed that.
