The De Pere Fire Department has been approved for a grant from the state to support a mobile EMS unit.
The grant, which totals nearly $207,000, is funded by the Healthcare Infrastructure Capital Grant program.
The Emergency Medical Services unit will be used to assist the police and fire departments in De Pere collaborate better for services such as mobile vaccination clinics, shelter response, and community education campaigns to name a few.
This would free up Fire and EMS critical response vehicles, which in turn will help make De Pere a safer place.
There is no word on when that unit would start its service.
