The cleanup efforts from this week’s storm are now entering their second day, and many are still without power.
Wisconsin Public Service and We Energies have been working diligently to restore power to all of their customers.
In fact, according to Matt Cullen, the Senior Communications Specialist for WEC Energy Group, they restored service to “more than 100,000 customers” and have received “more than 1,000 reports of downed trees, snapped power poles, and trees falling into equipment”.
However, an estimated 14 percent of Green Bay customers were still without power this morning according to the WPS website.
WPS estimates that 90% of customers will have electricity in their homes again by the end of the day today, and all customers should be back online tomorrow.
We Energies customers may have to wait until Sunday afternoon due to the extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan, the Director of Public Works David Bieble estimates that it could take weeks for his team to completely restore the city to pre-storm conditions.
He noted that dozens of trees were uprooted, many blocking streets, others blocking driveways and destroying sidewalks.
While the DPW is working on fixing all of the issues, they still have people manning the phone lines.
