Yesterday we heard from Brittney Randal, who is a worker at Ascend services. Today we will hear from another longtime employee of the Manitowoc organization, Travis Boettcher.
Much like Brittney, Travis has been with Ascend for several years, six to be precise. Travis told us all about his weekly schedule.
He explained, “Mondays I go to Kaysun Plastics, Tuesday, we go to I-43 and we clean up there. I get back around 1:00 and if they have no work I’m in pre-voc, or they have me as a team leader, Wednesdays I’m here all day so they have me as a team leader or on different jobs, Thursdays I’m off and on Fridays, I’m at Heiden.”
He actually has a very important role at Kaysun.
He is working on, “the electric trays with the foils for defibrillators, and right now we are working on the right handles with the stickers for the defibrillators.”
Travis told us he really enjoys being a part of these mobile work crews, “because I get out in the community and enjoy the nice weather.”
Travis is also an athlete with the Special Olympics.
He said that he competes in “basketball swimming, volleyball, bowling, and I’m not doing softball this year.”
He said the reason he backed out of softball this year is because of a knee injury he suffered at a state competition that is still bothering him.
Travis is an avid basketball fan, who is excited about NBA Finals. He is a big fan of the Golden State Warriors.
We asked Travis if he thinks Steph Curry and company are going to win it all this year, to which he said, “They better.”
Travis also told us that even though the threat of COVID-19 is dwindling, everyone at Ascend is still “Staying six feet apart, and spraying down our chairs and tables.”
When asked what his favorite part about working at Ascend is he pointed to all the jobs he gets to do and of course, the staff.
