Opening arguments will be given today in the homicide trial for a 25-year-old man who went on a violent rampage at a Madison group home. Ali Hassan is accused of shooting a worker at the home to death in December 2016. Prosecutors say he also wounded a second worker and started a fire. Hassan’s attorneys say their client was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he killed 23-year-old Fatoumatta Jallow. Charges against Hassan include first-degree intentional homicide and hit-and-run. Several disabled group home residents were present when he opened fire.
