Proposed enforcement guidelines for PFAS contamination go before a Waukesha County Judge today (Tuesday).
Those guidelines are being challenged by the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce – the state’s largest business lobby.
W.M.C. argues the state agency has no authority to force companies to clean up PFAS contamination without laws or rules backing it up.
Efforts to put the rules in place have been repeatedly held up by the Wisconsin Legislature.
Waukesha County Judge Mike Bohren has already ruled earlier this spring that the D.N.R. had no authority to issue an emergency rule in this case.
