A family in Fond du Lac is in mourning after they lost two pets in a weekend fire.
The Fond du Lac Fire Department was informed of the fire in the 200 block of Gillett Street at around 6:15 p.m. Saturday and quickly responded.
Smoke was seen coming from the eves and windows of the structure, and the kitchen was heavily damaged.
Firefighters were able to get two of the family pets out of the home, but they did not survive their injuries.
The cause of the fire was not known at last word, and no damage cost estimate was released.
The Humane Society and American Red Cross are assisting the family.
