Baby Passes Away

An 8 week old infant child abuse victim from Two Rivers has passed away.  Detective Lieutenant Melissa Wiesner of the Two Rivers Police Department says they were notified yesterday by Milwaukee Children’s Hospital that the child had died.  22 year old Matthew Brown-Edwards, the boyfriend of the baby’s mother, was arrested last Wednesday on reports of physically abusing a child.  Police were called to a northside home January 17th for the report of a baby that was not breathing and unconscious.  The infant was resuscitated and transferred to a local hospital then flown to Children’s Hospital and passed away yesterday.  Manitowoc County District Attorney Jaclyn Labre says formal charges will be filed upon a “complete review” of the medical report.  Brown-Edwards remains in the Manitowoc County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail and his initial appearance is scheduled for next Monday afternoon at 2:30 pm.
