More than one inmate at the Waupaca County Jail says an accused arsonist tried to hire them to kill witnesses.
Special agents with the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation interviewed several people last week.
One person who was in jail with Steven D. Eggert backed up his story by telling investigators the name of the target, a physical description, and showed that he had directions to the target’s home, and other personal details.
At least four inmates say Eggert was trying to put together a murder-for-hire scheme.
