
Manitowoc Lincoln scored 10 runs in the first inning and coasted to a 20-0 victory over visiting Sheboygan South last night in the opening game of the WIAA Regional Boys Baseball Tournament.
The Ships played errorless ball behind winning pitcher Ashton Portmann and reliever Brayden Steinbecker, who combined on a two-hit shutout.
Lincoln also benefited from 7 errors and a number of walks by the Redwings.
Sophomore Noah Wech reached base all 4 times he came to the plate, including a three-run triple and a pair of RBI singles.
The Ships will remain at Municipal Field for tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon’s Regional title game against West Bend West.
The Suns won their tournament opener, 3-to-1, over West Bend East.
