Manitowoc Lincoln and Lutheran High Schools will have a solid contingent of athletes traveling to UW-LaCrosse for next week’s WIAA State Track and Field championships.
The Lincoln Ships have 8 qualifiers in 8 events for state following competition last night at the Division-1 West Bend Sectional.
Mason Gates advances in two events after finishing 1st in the 3200-meter run and runner up in the 1600.
Marlon Stewart was a Sectional champion in the High Jump.
Those Manitowoc athletes punching their ticket to state on the girls side include Jenna Miller 2nd in the 200-meter dash, Tessa Campbell qualifies with a 2nd in the 400 meters, a 3rd in the 100 and she was the anchor runner on the 4-x-400 meter relay that wound up 3rd and also consisted of Breanna Jansky, Audrey Rabitz and Lexi Brey.
Addison Zick is also competing at state for the Ships in the Triple Jump where she placed 3rd.
In the team standings, the Lincoln girls wound up 4th out of 16 schools and the Ships boys finished 6th in their standings.
Meanwhile, 3 Manitowoc Lutheran girls track and field athletes qualified for state in 6 events yesterday in the D-3 Sectional meet held at Rosholt.
Moving on to the state meet in LaCrosse after a 4th place team finish are MonRaye Ermis in the Shot Put while resetting her own school record of 39-feet 3.5 inches, Brooklyn Luebke in both the 1600 and 3200 meters during which she also shattered her own school record times and Emily Marohn is a state qualifier in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, and the 300-meter Hurdles.
