The Wisconsin Department of Justice has officially launched its new program designed to track and document sexual assault kits.
Attorney General Josh Kaul says the program not only lets law enforcement track kits but also lets the survivors do so.
He says, “a survivor will receive a barcode for their sexual assault kits,” and that “others won’t have that information except for people who are part of the system (and) working on the case.”
Kaul also says the program should help prevent any future backlog of kits in the system, something both the Evers and Walker administrations had to work to undo.
