The news was not positive for Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta Monday.
An MRI revealed a posterior shoulder strain.
Peralta left his start Sunday with shoulder tightness. Manager Craig Counsell Monday told reporters Peralta could now miss “significant” time due to the injury.
With no specific timetable, Counsell did indicate the injury is not season-ending.
Lefty Aaron Ashby is expected to step into a starting role to fill Peralta’s spot in the short term.
Milwaukee will be in need of plenty of arms as they just began a stretch of playing 11 games in ten days.
