The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers ended their week-long series with the South Bend Cubs right where they left off.
The teams each took three games in the six-game set. South Bend won 6-2 on Friday, but the Rattlers recovered from their three-game skid to take the final two games 9-2 and 7-6.
All three games were slugfests, as the Rattlers scattered 29 hits and the Cubs had 26.
Both teams did gain some ground in the Midwest League’s West Division, as the leading Cedar Rapids Kernels went 2-4 in their series against the Lake County Captains.
Wisconsin is now one game back, while the Cubs sit three games back.
The Rattlers will take a day off before traveling to Cedar Rapids Minnesota for another big series.
This six-game series against the Kernels could result in some major shakeups in the standings.
