
The Wisconsin Badgers softball team stormed back from a four-run deficit in an elimination game Sunday afternoon to beat Georgia Tech 7-6 but fell in the regional final against the host Florida Gators 11-0.
In the first game of the day, Wisconsin took a 2-0 lead on a pair of solo home runs from Fiona Girardot and Peyton Bannon.
The Yellow Jackets scored the next six runs before the badgers started the comeback wth two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
In the bottom of the seventh Kayla Konwent doubled with runners on to make it a one-run game.
A wild pitch and a bases-loaded walk punched the Badgers’ ticket to the Regional Final.
Just 30 minutes later the badgers allowed 10 runs to number 14 Florida in the top of the first.
The Gators cruised to the regional title, ending the run for the Badgers.
