The Packers are expected to receive one compensatory pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Those picks are awarded to teams who lose more than they add in free agency. There are many factors being considered.
OverTheCap.com projects that Green Bay won’t receive a compensatory pick for losing offensive lineman Lucas Patrick because it signed defensive tackle Jarran Reed.
Their contracts were similar.
The website thinks the Packers will get the pick for losing speedy wide receive Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the Chiefs.
Also, the Packer defense showed what it was capable of in a 13-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers last year in the divisional playoffs.
The 49ers won, but they were held without an offensive touchdown.
Now, the team’s defenders are ready to take it to the next level.
Both first-round draft picks are defenders and free-agent tackle Jarran Reed has been added.
The offense behind quarterback Aaron Rodgers will still be potent, but it won’t have to carry the load.
It’s an old saying in the NFL – defense wins championships.
The Packers hope that proves true for them.
