A 22-year-old male is in the Manitowoc County Jail on multiple charges including physical abuse of a child causing great bodily harm. Detective Lieutenant Melissa Wiesner (wise-nur) of the Two Rivers Police Department says officers and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to a northside city residence about 3:30 Wednesday afternoon for the report of a two-month old baby that was unconscious and not breathing. An investigation determined the infant’s condition was due to child abuse caused by the mother’s boyfriend. The baby was resuscitated and transported to a local hospital before being flown to Milwaukee Children’s Hospital where the infant remains in critical condition. Additional charges against the suspect include failure to render aid—obstructing and possession of drug paraphernalia. Two Rivers Police are continuing their investigation.
