It was a close one the whole way through, but some late-game heroics from Joe Grey Jr. gave the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers a 3-1 win over the South Bend Cubs last night at Fox Cities Stadium.
The Rattlers opened up the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning when Tristan Peters knocked in a run, and Antoine Kelly held the Cubs scoreless through six innings.
But a run in the 7th chased Kelly off the mound and tied the game.
Then, in the bottom of the 8th, a two-run bomb by Grey Jr. was all the rattlers needed to secure the win, as Cam Robinson struck out two of the final three batters to earn the save.
Kent Hasler earned the win in relief with two strikeouts of his own in one and two-thirds innings.
The Rattlers look to make it 4 wins in a row today, as they square off with the Cubs at 12:10 this afternoon.
The game is known as the Silver Foxes game, where seniors can get a ticket to the game, a souvenir item, a beverage, and a brat or hot dog for $25.
