Emergency response officials with the City of Manitowoc and Manitowoc County will be conducting a full-scale hazardous materials response exercise with Manitowoc Public Utilities.
The exercise is scheduled for next Thursday (May 26th) and will last from roughly 8:00 a.m. until noon. Residents may notice a number of emergency vehicles, artificial smoke, simulated injuries, and responders dressed in protective equipment within the vicinity of MPU offices during the exercise.
This is all part of the exercise, as emergency responders prepare for the worst-case scenario.
Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director Travis Waack said of the training, “We hope we never have to respond to a real hazardous materials incident, but we need to be ready.”
If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Travis at (920) 683-4207 or TravisWaack@ManitowocCountyWI.gov.
