The Sheboygan Police Department was made aware of some threats to the Sheboygan Area School District over the weekend.
According to information in a news release, the Department began investigating at around 10:00 last night and contacted officials at the school.
Classes went on as normal this morning while the investigation continue.
It was later determined that the threatening messages were sent from a social media account that was made as a fake account.
Someone from outside of the state allegedly made the account, which appeared to be that of someone who lives in the area, so the threat was deemed not credible.
The SPD is using this case as a reminder to anyone who sees any suspicious or threatening behavior online to report it to authorities immediately.
They also suggested not to share any such posts, as it can give the suspect the attention they were looking for.
