Law enforcement agencies around the country, including in Manitowoc will be partaking in the annual Click It or Ticket campaign soon.
This year’s campaign will begin on May 23rd and will run through June 5th.
During the campaign, police will be reinforcing the importance of wearing a seatbelt while in a vehicle.
Thousands of lives could be saved each year if every person was properly restrained on the road.
About 88% of Wisconsin motorists wear seat belts, and that number has been dropping in recent years.
Half of the drivers and passengers involved in deadly traffic crashes in Wisconsin in 2021 were not wearing seat belts.
The annual campaign also coincides with the first summer travel holiday.
