The City of Green Bay was recently awarded a major grant from the National Park Service for the second phase of a project on the West side of the Fox River.
The $5 million grant will go toward the Shipyard Project, the first phase of which is scheduled to begin construction next month.
This project has been years in the making, with the first iteration of the plan brought forth nearly seven years ago.
Now, after numerous changes and adjustments, the pieces are all starting to fall into place.
Phase one involves the construction of some floating docks, a fishing pier, a kayak launch, and a riverfront promenade and is expected to cost $7.8 million.
