A school counselor at Carl Traeger Elementary School in Oshkosh has been honored as a Teacher of the Year.
Kaelee Heideman was given the award by State Superintendent Jill Underly during an assembly yesterday morning at the school.
Heideman is one of five educators in the state to receive the honor.
She is in her fifth year as a school counselor, and Underly noted her dedication to her students and colleagues, especially throughout the pandemic.
She reportedly sent a handwritten letter to each and every student, and regularly sent messages of encouragement with her dog Milo.
The school Principal Brenna Garrison-Bruden, nominated Heideman and said that she greets the students every day, and supports both the students and staff socially, emotionally, and academically.
