A Milwaukee grandfather goes on trial starting today.
53-year-old Andrez Martina is accused of using a sledgehammer to kill his 12-year-old grandson.
Authorities say the victim’s 8-year-old brother saw Martina also use a mallet, a coat rack, and a cane to attack Andre Smith.
He thought the boy had stolen money out of his wallet.
He faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide and physical abuse of a child.
The bench trial is expected to take two days.
