Madison police say they have arrested a suspect in the death of a 20-month-old girl.
Neighbors called for help at about 2:45 a.m after hearing a woman screaming and saying a man had killed her baby.
The child was dead when she arrived at a hospital.
Her mother had to be treated for serious injuries.
Police say 23-year-old Marshawn Giles, the suspect, has a lengthy criminal history.
He was taken into custody.
Police officers had been dispatched to the same apartment unit last Thursday when Giles was accused of abusing the baby girl’s older sibling.
The other children were staying with their grandparents when the latest attack happened Monday morning.
