Sheboygan’s Rotary Club has given the gift of life to Rudy Mahler Park.
In celebration of Earth Day, the Club’s Restoration of Our Trees Sheboygan, or “ROOTS” program, kicked off their second phase of restoration efforts by planting some trees.
Numerous trees at parks around the area had to be cut down after being infected with the Emerald Ash Borer beetle, leading to this multi-phase project.
It is estimated that Sheboygan County alone has around 17 million trees infected with the invasive species, and roughly $1.5 million is being spent on the eradication of the beetle.
