A day after the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers mounted a seven-run comeback, the Quad Cities River Bandits nearly had a comeback of their own.
Down 4 entering the 8th inning, the Bandits put up three runs in that inning, and another in the 9th, but an RBI single by Tyler Black in the bottom of the 9th secured a 6-5 win for the Appleton based team.
Black had two hits on the night, both scoring runs, while Joe Grey Jr. also had a pair of hits.
On the mound, TJ Shook got the start, and gave five and two-thirds’ innings of solid work, accumulating 7 strikeouts while allowing only 2 hits, while Cam Robinson came on in the 9th to pick up the win.
The Rattlers have now won three in a row, all against the Bandits, and look to secure a series win this evening at Fox Cities Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. on Kids Run the Bases night.
The teams will finish off the six-game series this weekend with a pair of 1:10 p.m. starts on Saturday and Sunday.
