Dolores M. (Fessler) Matte, 98, of Manitowoc, surrounded by her loving family, was called home by God on April 19th, 2022.
Dolores was born August 18th, 1923 in Manitowoc, to August and Emma (Klein) Fessler. She married Arnold Matte on May 25th, 1946 at St. Joseph’s Church in Manitowoc. She worked for many years in the kitchen at Park Lawn Nursing home until her retirement in 1986. Dolores was a devout Catholic and loved God the father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and the Communion of Saints. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Alverno in her younger years and has been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc for 76 years. Dolores loved gardening, baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and taking loving care of her family. She enjoyed the many wonderful visits from her special niece Diann Wimmer Kane over the years.
Survivors included three sons and daughters-in-law; Alan (Tammy) Matte of Reedsville, Francis ‘Frank’ (Gail) Matte of Reedsville, John (Sue) Matte of Manitowoc; and one daughter and son-in-law MaryClare (Peter) Pankratz of Minneapolis MN. She has five grandchildren, Vicki (Marvin) Dahm of Milwaukee; Christopher (Nicole) Matte of Plymouth; Jennifer (Jeff) Ulmer of Siloam Springs AR; Alicia Pankratz of Minneapolis MN; Ericia (Pankratz) Sahr of Minneapolis MN. She has six Great-Grandchildren, Ashley Brooks, Crystal Matte-Oestreich; Jason Sahr of Minneapolis, Lily Matte of Plymouth; Emma Ulmer of Siloam Springs AR; and Aaron Vilasek-Sahr of Minneapolis. She has five Great-Great Grandchildren. one sister-in-law Margo (Matte) Perrodin of Tripoli. Special niece and nephew-in-law Diann Wimmer Kane and Alan Kane and many other nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Matte, who passed in December 1985. one son and daughter-in-law Robert ‘Bob” and Eileen Matte; one Grandson Anthony ‘Tony’ Matte; her parents August and Emma Fessler; two sisters and brothers-in-law Norma and Francis Trainor; Constance and Ray Wimmer Sr; one brother and sister-in-law Robert and Marie Fessler; Parents in-law Herbert and Frances Matte; two brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Orville and Marion Matte and Hillary ‘Bud’ Matte; one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law Janice and Bruno Ambrose, and Art Perrodin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall (1114 S. 21st Street ). Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Doug LeCaptain with burial to take place at St. Mary Cemetery, Manitowoc following the service.
The family will greet family and friends at the church on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10:00 am until 10:45 am.
