The Atlanta Rhythm Section is coming to Manitowoc.
The organizers of Metro Jam made that announcement yesterday on Facebook.
ARS was formed in 1970 after working on a Roy Orbison recording session. After releasing four albums, the band broke it big in 1977 with their breakthrough single “So Into You”, which reached number 7 in the US.
They followed up that hit with “I’m Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight”, which reached number 14, before cracking the top 10 once again with “Imaginary Lover”.
ARS will celebrate 50 years of making music together on the Metro Jam stage as the headliner of the 43rd annual show.
Metro Jam is scheduled for June 17th and 18th at Washington Park in Manitowoc.
The free two-day event features an array of national, regional, and local acts covering a full spectrum of musical styles including jazz, blues, reggae, ska, folk, alt-country, Americana, classic rock, and original rock.
Metro Jam features 10 different acts over the two days of the festival.
