Roncalli Catholic Schools will be bringing back their Pierside Auction for the 38th time next week, but it will look a little different than in years past.
For the past two years the auction was done entirely online due to the pandemic, but this year, they are going back to an in-person format alongside the virtual option.
We spoke with Candice Giesen, who is the event organizer, and she said the virtual auction has worked well, especially last year.
“I think we had over 500 people register as bidders,” she explained. “Even though we couldn’t be in person, having it virtual gave people a different way of viewing the event, and we did very well.”
Now this year, there will be certain items that are only available online, and others that will be only available in person, but “…some things are similar. We have two packages for tile from Insulation & Supply, so we put one online and one in person. I just kind of decided what would be interesting to people online versus not.”
Participants are encouraged to both attend the in-person auction, and to participate in the online auction.
Those who registered online last year have already received a text letting them know they are registered again this year, but if you did not participate last year, you can register by going to roncalliauction.givesmart.com.
The online bidding opens up next week Wednesday (April 27th), and will run through May 4th, while the in-person event is scheduled for next week Saturday (April 30th) at Roncalli High School.
There will be a mass prior to the auction at 4:00 p.m. with Father Mark Mleziva, and bidding will begin at 5:30 p.m.
