Thomas A. Strauss, age 64, of Manitowoc passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
Tom was born on July 8, 1957, in Manitowoc, son of the late Francis and Lorraine (Holschbach) Strauss. He was a 1975 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. In 1975 he entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1979. On June 13, 1987, Tom was married to Mary E. Scheurell at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He was employed at Calvary Cemetery in Manitowoc for many years.
Tom was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, the Manitowoc Fraternal Order of Eagle’s #706, and AMVETS Post #99 of Manitowoc. He enjoyed hunting, walking in the woods, riding his ATV, and playing with his granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife: Mary Strauss; two daughters and sons-in-law: Mallory (Scott) Paquette, Brittany (Calvin) Curkeet; two granddaughters: Vanessa Paquette, Skylynn Curkeet, all of Manitowoc; one brother and sister-in-law: Timothy (Selina) Strauss, Manitowoc; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Lisa (Scott) Schweigl, Ann (Tom) Dishinger all of Manitowoc; Linda (Ronald) Lash, Athelstane; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jeannie (Mark) Hougen, Margie (Tyler) Bowring, Karen (Karl) Pagels; mother-in-law: Marian Scheurell all of Manitowoc; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Francis and Lorraine Strauss; one infant sister: Mary Strauss; and his father-in-law: William Scheurell.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 21, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi, Marshall site, 1114 S. 21st Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Ben Johnson will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial of his cremated remains to follow in the Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by AMVETS Post #99 of Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
