The Oshkosh woman who was convicted in a murder-for-hire case has been sentenced.
39-year-old Melissa Smith was found guilty due to a no-contest plea on Thursday, and Judge John Jorgenson ordered her to spend seven and a half years in prison, which will be followed by four years on extended supervision.
The situation began in July of last year, when Smith became upset with her ex-boyfriend, who had reported her drug dealings to the police.
A confidential informant with the police was contacted by Smith, where she offered to pay them to kill her ex-boyfriend.
She also reportedly had plans to flee the country after the dead was done.
While in Court, Smith apologized, saying she lost herself to drugs.
