Marquette head basketball coach Shaka Smart is high on his three-player recruiting class for next season.
He says New Zealand native Ben Gold has grown a few inches and is now 6′ 11″ and 220 pounds.
Gold first got international attention for his shooting ability, but his game has expanded as he got stronger.
The 19-year-old center spent several weeks in February playing with New Zealand’s senior national team.
Smart says that was a valuable experience.
The other two members of the recruiting class are 5′ 10″ point guard Sean Jones from Ohio and 6′ 4″ guard Chase Ross from Massachusetts.
