The Packers are hoping second-year defensive lineman T-J Slaton can be more consistent and help them stop the run this fall.
Green Bay’s defense allowed 4.7 yards per rush last season – dead last in the NFL.
Slaton was on the field for 266 snaps and he showed some flashes of what he could do as a run-stopper.
Interior defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery has told reporters he expects the 330-pounder to be one of those players who makes a big jump in performance between their first and second years.
Defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s defense focuses on stopping the big passing plays but slowing down opposing running backs would be a good thing, too.
