Citing health concerns, the Superintendent of the Green Bay Area Public School District has announced his retirement.
This announcement did not come as a shock to those on the School Board, as they had reportedly known since early March that Stephen Murley was going to submit his retirement paperwork.
Murley took over the role in the summer of 2020 after the retirement of Michelle Langenfeld.
Stepping in to fill the role on an interim basis will be Vicki Bayer, who has been with the district since 2013 as a school principal and district administrator.
Members of the Board of Education have called her a tremendous leader, and say she is well respected in the community.
