A Portage County jury took just 30 minutes to find a Bancroft man guilty of negligent homicide Tuesday. Fifty-nine-year-old Scott Sawyer was on trial for causing a crash which killed his best friend nearly three years ago. The jury found him not guilty of second-degree reckless homicide in the death of 52-year-old Gregory Turner. Sawyer lost control of his high-powered sports car while showing Turner how fast it would go. When it went out of control, hit a ditch and rolled over, Turner was ejected. Sawyer will be sentenced in March.
