A 60-year-old Wausau man faces a life sentence when he returns to Marathon County Court today.
Lee Franck pleaded no contest to a charge of first-degree intentional homicide last week.
Two disorderly conduct charges were dropped as part of that plea agreement.
Investigators say 77-year-old Lyle Leath tried to intervene in a fight between his daughter and Franck four years ago.
Leath died of a head injury and police say they found a metal pipe buried in a fire pit on Franck’s property.
The only decision to be made by Judge Gregory Strasser is whether Franck will be eligible for parole.
